Cafe Java
Big-portion breakfasts, hot coffee, and neighborhood warmth since 1996.
The scoop
Cafe Java is a longtime Austin neighborhood diner near Metric Boulevard, serving all-day breakfast, migas, chicken fried steak, and specialty coffee drinks since 1996. Known for generous portions and fast, friendly service, it marked 30 years in business in early 2026. The Metric Boulevard location is the original of a small family of cafes that has since grown to Round Rock and Cedar Park.
Air Force veteran Matt Lacey and his wife Eva opened Cafe Java on Metric Boulevard in Austin in 1996, building a reputation for big-portion breakfasts and quick, friendly counter service. A Round Rock location followed roughly a decade later. Lacey has since retired, and the Siade family now owns the growing small chain, which opened a third location in Cedar Park in January 2026.
