Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden

Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden is a South Austin cafe and beer garden at the corner of Pickle Road and South Congress, serving specialty coffee by day and Texas craft beer, cocktails, and mezcal by night. The nearly acre-sized permaculture garden includes a certified wildlife habitat, an ecological pond, a rainwater catchment system, and a 1900s horse-drawn carriage repurposed as a chicken coop. Food trucks and live music round out the grounds, next door to LeRoy and Lewis Barbecue.

Paul Oveisi and Patrick Dean opened Cosmic in 2017 on a restored asphalt lot at 121 Pickle Rd, building the site around permaculture principles like on-site composting and rainwater collection. The garden earned certified wildlife habitat status in 2020, and the concept expanded in 2023 with a second location, Cosmic Saltillo, in East Austin.
