Cuvee Coffee

Austin's nitro cold brew pioneer, now pouring coffee and cocktails downtown

The scoop

Cuvée Coffee is an Austin roaster and coffee bar founded in 1998, widely credited with pioneering canned nitro cold brew around 2011. After closing its longtime East 6th Street cafe in May 2024, the brand now runs a coffee-and-cocktail bar in the Natiivo high-rise near Rainey Street, serving its own roasted beans alongside espresso drinks and beer/wine.

Founder and CEO Mike McKim started Cuvée Coffee in 1998, inspired by his uncle's coffee roasting craft, building it from a warehouse roasting and espresso-equipment operation into a nationally recognized specialty roaster. Cuvée's East 6th Street coffee bar in the Holly neighborhood operated for roughly a decade before closing on May 29, 2024 due to rising rent; the company relocated its downtown cafe presence to the Natiivo condo tower at 48 East Avenue near Rainey Street, which opened in February 2024. In 2026 Cuvée opened a second Austin location inside The Code, a hotel-residence hybrid at 2323 S. Lamar Blvd, serving coffee and cocktails from the building's lobby lounge starting May 1, 2026.
