Cenote

East Austin's beloved patio cafe, reborn on East 7th with coffee, cocktails, and comfort food

The scoop

Cenote is East Austin's longtime neighborhood patio cafe, serving espresso drinks, brunch classics like chilaquiles and migas, and scratch-made Mexican-inflected comfort food on a lively, art-filled patio. After 13 years on East Cesar Chavez, the cafe relocated in 2025 to a colorful new space on East 7th Street with extended hours and an expanded cocktail menu.

Cenote was founded on March 25, 2012 by married couple Cody Symington and Mary Jenkins, who restored an 1887 East Austin house for the original location and won a Heritage Society of Austin Preservation Merit Award for the work. Symington passed away in 2021; Jenkins continued running the cafe until the East Cesar Chavez building was sold, closing that location in April 2025. Cenote reopened about a mile away at 1405 E. 7th Street (formerly Revival Coffee) with a grand opening on September 13, 2025.
