Flitch Coffee
Espresso and breakfast tacos from a restored 1952 Spartan trailer.
The scoop
Flitch Coffee pours espresso, pour-over coffee, and specialty drinks from a meticulously restored 1952 Spartan trailer parked at the corner of Holton and Tillery on Austin's eastside. The shaded patio doubles as a neighborhood gathering spot, with breakfast tacos, Sour Duck Bakery pastries, and weekend donuts from Andy K's rounding out the menu. Open daily from 7am to 3pm.
Owner Erica Foster crowdfunded the build through a Kickstarter campaign and spent about six months converting a derelict 1950s trailer into a coffee shop with help from her husband, a furniture maker, deliberately choosing a unit in rough shape so they could rebuild it from scratch. Flitch has operated from that trailer at 641 Tillery ever since, with Foster describing it as a small, intimate space built around a patio where 'people talk to each other.'
